White spot syndrome virus host range and impact on transmission

چکیده

White spot syndrome virus (WSSV), the etiological agent of white disease (WSD), is a significant pathogen affecting shrimp farming industry worldwide. generalist mainly infecting decapod crustaceans. The aims this review were to: (1) Re-evaluate and update status reported WSSV host vector species based on methods used when detecting replication transmission to 2) make critical evaluation existing literature presence in aquatic organisms potential role these might play pond systems wild. An about showed an increase from 33 families 50 including 11 non-crustacean hosts, proved continues spread beyond farmed environment. environment complex as depicted our model. Containment ponds natural challenging, because its nature lack understanding setting, (2) route among exist (3) information dynamics between crustaceans non-farmed animals. Information presented provides research direction control WSSV.

Experimental host range and histopathology of white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) infection in shrimp, prawns, crabs and lobsters from India

Experimental studies were conducted by injecting or feeding white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) derived from infected shrimp, Penaeus monodon (Fabricius), collected from the south-east coast of India, to five species of shrimp, two species of freshwater prawns, four species of crabs and three species of lobsters. All species examined were susceptible to the virus. Experimental infections in the sh...

Design and Evaluation of a PCR Method for Detecting White Spot Syndrome Virus in Shrimp

Background: White spot syndrome virus (wssv) is the causing agent for white spot disease in shrimp and many crustaceans. This disease is highly contagious and can cause death within 3–10 days under normal culture conditions. Therefore, early diagnosis of the virus is a necessity. Materials and Methods: Primers were designed for three regions of the virus genome and one region of the shrimp geno...

A white spot syndrome virus microRNA promotes the virus infection by targeting the host STAT

JAK/STAT pathway plays an important role in invertebrates during virus infection. However the microRNA (miRNA)-mediated regulation of JAK/STAT is not intensively investigated. Viral miRNAs, encoded by virus genome, have emerged as important regulators in the virus-host interactions. In this study, a WSSV (white spot syndrome virus)-encoded miRNA (WSSV-miR-22) was characterized in shrimp during ...

White spot syndrome virus: an overview on an emergent concern

Viruses are ubiquitous and extremely abundant in the marine environment. One of such marine viruses, the white spot syndrome virus (WSSV), has emerged globally as one of the most prevalent, widespread and lethal for shrimp populations. However, at present there is no treatment available to interfere with the unrestrained occurrence and spread of the disease. The recent progress in molecular bio...

Sequence analysis of ORF94 in different White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV) isolates of Iran

White spot syndrome virus (WSSV) is a pathogen that causes high mortality in shrimp culture in the whole world. Sequence analysis of WSSV has shown similarity of WSSV isolates in different countries with exception of a few variable genomic loci. This study investigated the sequence variation of some Iranian WSSV isolates and previously identified isolates. Samples were collected during target ...
